Alzheimer's disease is now the sixth-leading cause of death as well as the most expensive disease to treat in the United States, yet there are still many common misunderstandings about the condition. Carol Colton, PhD, recently spoke with WRAL's Liisa Ogburn to discuss what we know about Alzheimer's disease, how the immune system plays a part in how it develops, and possible directions for future research. She also shares information on how behaviors like exercise, a healthy diet, and keeping mentally active may reduce the likelihood of developing Alzheimer's disease. Read her full discussion with Ogburn here.
